Mission Statement

                 First Trinitarian Congregational Church DCC

Since 1634, First Trinitarian Congregational Church has sought to nurture faith in Christ through adherence to truth, devotion to love, and
promotion of justice. In the 21st  Century, we seek to continue being faithful to Christ by:

• Worshiping God with a joyful blend of Word, Music & Prayer;
• Welcoming all and celebrating diversity;
• Providing a safe haven for children and adults to learn and grow in faith;
• Actively seeking to know and support one another;
• Responding to God's love in a spirit of generosity;
• Striving to be the hands and heart of Christ in our world;

                                                    Mission Ministry Teams

Mission & Outreach Ministry Team:  Leads the mission ministry of the church both in Scituate and the world by reviewing
and directing mission giving, promoting mission opportunities, and organizing special offerings.

Appalachia Service Project (ASP) Ministry Team:  Offers the opportunity to go to central Appalachia for a week to make
homes warmer, safer, and drier for families in need, while offering transformational experiences for families and volunteers.

Senior Lunch Ministry Team:  Provides senior citizens from our community with an opportunity to gather weekly
for fellowship and a good meal.

Writing Ministry Team:  Writes notes to individuals for celebrations and encouragement.

                   Church Family Ministry Teams

Fellowship Ministry Team:  Coordinates programs for social interaction among the members of the church,
using the resources of the whole church family.

Coffee Hour Ministry Team:  Prepares weekly coffee hour following worship, administered by the Coffee Hour
Coordinator.

New Members Ministry Team:  Invites, informs and integrates new members into the life of the church.

Red Hat Mommas Ministry Team:  Gathers for socialization, lunch and group outings (for women over 50)

Hearty Boys Ministry Team:  Meets for monthly book discussions (for men)

Interests & Talents Ministry Team:  Develops a program to help people discern and develop their unique gifts
and talents in our church community; identifies, nominates and helps place people in roles that match with their
talents; monitors and broadens participation throughout the entire church community.

Parish Visiting Ministry Team:  Visit shut-ins and members who are sick; distributes holiday plants and
devotional materials.

Fantasy Football Ministry Team: Fans of all ages come together for competition and good fun to
try to win it all.

                      Worship & Music Ministry Teams

Worship Ministry Team:  Assists the Pastor in all aspects of our Sunday Morning Worship Service and special
holiday services, with the goal of making our worship a "Joyful blend of Word, Music, and Prayer." The Director of
Music, Usher Coordinator & Liturgist Coordinator sit on the Worship Ministry Team.

Usher Ministry Team:  Welcomes worshipers, passes out bulletins, answers basic questions of visitors, and
receives the offering.  This team is led by the Usher Coordinator, who oversees the training, recruiting and
scheduling of ushers.

Liturgist Ministry Team:  Assists with Sunday Morning Worship Service.  This team is led by the Liturgist
Coordinator who oversees the training, recruiting and scheduling of liturgists.

Flower Ministry Team:  Coordinates floral arrangements for worship service.

Acolyte Ministry Team: oversees the training, recruiting and scheduling of acolytes, who light the candles on
the Communion Table at the beginning of worship service, and snuffs them out at the conclusion of worship.

Diaconate Ministry Team:  Prepares and serves communion, assists the pastor with baptisms, and serves
home communions. This team is led by the Coordinator who oversees the scheduling and training.

Choir Ministry Teams:  Practices and presents music during the worship service under the oversight of the
Director of Music. Current choirs:
                                                      Senior Choir
                                                      Junior Choir (4th grade and older)
                                                      Joy Singers (Grades K through 3)
                                                      Chime Choir

Music Ministry Team: assists the Director of Music with special music programs, instrument maintenance,
and the music library.

Audio & Video Ministry Team:  Runs the sound equipment and makes a video recording of the Sunday Worship
Service. This team is led by the Coordinator who is responsible for training, recruiting, and scheduling of technicians .            

 

                                                                       

               

                   

                   Spiritual Nurture & Education Ministry Teams

Church School Ministry Team:  Selects & implements the Christian Education curriculum and programming.
Activities include: curriculum development, teacher recruitment and training, budget development. The
Director of Christian Education is the primary staff support for this Ministry Team.

Adult Spiritual Development Ministry Team:  Develops and promotes Adult Christian Education programs.

Teaching Ministry Team:  Teaches all Church School programs and supports each other with the implementation
of curriculum and teaching methods. They often work in teaching teams.

Confirmation Ministry Team:  Assists the Pastor in planning and leading the confirmation process for 9th grade
students.

                          Administrative Ministry Teams

Church Fair Ministry Team:  Develops and oversees the annual Christmas Church Fair.

Church Communications Ministry Team:  Develops marketing and communications tools to promote
Church programs, including email data base and webpage.

Delegate Ministry Team:  Represents the Congregation at Pilgrim Association and Massachusetts
Conference (UCC) Meetings and informs the congregation of the activities and mission of the Association,
Conference and National UCC organizations.

Memorials Ministry Team:  Plans and approves projects to be funded through the memorial gifts fund.
